Activities Report, NCC [2019- 2020]

It has been a year of action and accomplishment in a wide range of activities. The NCC Unit, 2/4 Coy of the University College of Arts with the strength of 108 cadets is attached to the 4 Karnataka BN, NCC Tumkur of the Army’s Infantry Wing. Our Unit consists of 70 Senior Division boys and 38 Senior Wing girls and a total strength of 108 cadets

The NCC unit was reorganized for this academic year with the enrolment of 54 new cadets in July 2019. Company Appointments were distributed among the best cadets. Sgt. PrahladaGowda L.K adorned the company appointment of Coy Senior Under Officer. Sgt. Bandesh, SgtPavan V.R, SgtHarshitha H.D were conferred on with the ranks of Cadet Under Officers. Sgt. Girish.D was given the charge as the Company Quarter Master. Sgt. NandanKumar.Awas made the Coy Sargent Major

  1. 30 cadets of our college participated in CATC –1 held at GPT and University grounds, Tumkur from 13th to 21st June 2017.
  2. CSUO Prahlad Gowda L.K, Cpl Pallavi. K were detailed to attend Basic Leadership Camp held at Mysore from 05 to 14 June 2019.
  3. Meanwhile, Yoga was taught to all the cadets of our College for one month and the cadets were taken to MG Stadium to perform on the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st of June 2019.
  4. An Awareness Talk on Natural Resources and Our Environment was organized on 11- July-2019at our College for the cadets. Dr Joy Nerella, Associate Professor of Economics was invited as the Resource Person.
  5. Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor on the campus and our cadets made it colorful. On this occasion, the college fielded a platoon, lead by CSM Nandan Kumar. A. to take part in the Parade held at MG stadium,Tumkur organized by the district authority and their proud march displaying demonstrating and commanding skills  won a lot of appreciation.
  6. Seven cadets of our Unit, Sgt Basavaraju K.S, JUO Pavan V.R, Cpl Beerappa .B Sgt Shivashankar B.N, Sgt Syed Luqman, Cpl Girish R, Cpl. Sandeep K.R were sent to Secunderabad to take part in the Army Attachment Camp held from 18-11-2019 to 27-11-2019, where they got exposed to the functioning of military units and life in armed forces.
  7. JUO Harshitha.H.D of our college made some impressive attempts in obstacle course at IGC, Pre Tal Sainik Camp held at Tumkur in the month of October,2019.
  8. NCC cadets are given the opportunity to participate in a host of adventurous activities. Cpl MalateshaSajjiwas sent to attend All India Trekking Camp held at Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh from 3-12-2019 to 10-12-2019.
  9. 30 cadets of our Unit took part in the Plugging and Awareness Rally organized by 4 KAR BN, NCC, Tumkur on 7-Dec-2019.
  10. 50 Cadets and the ANO were detailed as volunteers to attend the Prime Minister’s visit programme [KisanYojanaProgramme] on 2-Jan -2020, held at Govt PU College round, Tumkur
  11. CQMS Girish. D, CSM Nandankumar.A, CplSakamma H.C were detailed to represent Karnataka and Goa Directorate, NCC at the Ek Bharath Shresht Bharath-II held at Toranagallu, Ballari from 16 to 27 January, 2020.
  12. Republic Day was celebrated with great fervor on the campus and our cadets made it colourful. On this occasion, the college fielded a platoon, lead by CSUO Prahlad Gowda to take part in the Parade held at Government Junior College grounds, Tumkur organized by the district authority and their proud march displaying demonstrating and commanding skills won a lot of appreciation.
  13. In memory of the Pulwama attack incident, the NCC Unit had organized a Special Talk on 14-Feb-2020 at UCA. A minute silence was observed to pay respects to the martyrs. The Principal addressed the students and the cadets.
  14. 30 cadets of our Unit took part in Swatch Bharath Abhiyanand visited the village of Belagumbha to bring awareness among the villagers. The events were organized by 4 KAR BN NCC, Tumkur on 20 February 2020.
  15. Mohan Prakash, the Associate NCC Officer attended the Refresher course, part 1, at OTA, Kamptee of Maharashtra state for a period of one month from 9-Sep-2019 to 8-Oct-2020 and became eligible for his promotion to Captain rank.
  16. Mohan Prakash was detailed to the CATC and Pre RDC in November 2019 held at Jalahalli, Bengaluru to discharge duties as the Camp Adjutant.
  17. Mohan Prakash, Associate NCC Officer of our college received the prestigious Chief Minister’s Commendation Card on 6-Feb-2020 for exemplary service rendered in NCC.
  18. Harish, Administrative Officer, 4 Karnataka Bn, NCC was invited to the college on 11-March-2020 for a Special lecture on “Youth and Nationalism”. 60 cadets, students, staff, ANO and the Principal took part in it. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Tumkur University graced the occasion.
  19. NCC is a curricular activity but basically, a Certificate Course. In the month of February this year, 24 Senior cadets of our college appeared for C Certificate examinations while 29 wrote B Certificate exams. The results of these exams are awaited.
